As Lent begins and we start to starve our bodies of booze and all things fun, now seems like the perfect time to self-indulge in a little audio treat. This week we bring you a taste
of simulated reality from German producers and DJs, Jens Moelle and Ismail Tufekci AKA Digitalism; VIRTUALSYSTEMMIX dives into a virtual world of their favourite sounds from the
last thirty years. This eclectic mix blends the synth-heavy pop of MGMT and modern disco beats from Soulwax with the electro punk of LCD Soundsystem and the iconic Rinse and Repeat
hook from Riton and Kah-Lo.
Starting their career in 2001, Digitalism became famed for their unique electronic sets, with roots in both indie and techno. Their new single, Holograms, explores “how thin the line between reality and the virtual realm has become”. Diving deep into their signature sound, the track offers rich electronica blended with an atmospheric vocal and swells of synth-based chords. Holograms will be followed in March by a new EP, Zdar C1u6.
